Mixed Media - Emboss Resist

There's a new Mix-Ability challenge up over at Splitcoaststampers! Jeanne is challenging us to use the Emboss Resist technique on our projects. That can have some fun variations - I can't wait to see the gallery!

I always keep a piece of cardstock under my work when I stamp or paint, so that whatever goes over the edge doesn't end up on my desk (or that is the general idea... today I noticed white paint splatters on the back of my chair, so there is no telling how far over the edge thngs go.....) - when that cardstock gets all filled up with ink and paint, it becomes the base of other mixed media projects! It's a fun way to recycle, and it's an easy start for something new.

My background panel is one of those pieces. I embossed my favorite Cover-a-Card Damask background over the panel and embossed with clear powder, then rubbed dye ink over the panel for more contrast. This is a twist on the Joseph's Coat technique.  I ironed the panel afterwards for a faux batik look, but I didn't have the right kind of paper (coloring book pages work best), so the residue of the powder is still on my panel... pretty sure there are no mistakes in mixed media though... so I can pretend I meant to do it that way.

My main panel is colored with reinkers, Shinhan Premium Watercolors, Touch Twin Markers, and Inktense pencils. The brush markers make a great base color for the narrow stem and leaves, and the other mediums are all waterbased, so they play together well.

Stamps used: CAC Damask, Wild Sweetheart Rose, Sweet Beautiful You (plus some others that were stamped onto the background while working on other projects!)

Hope you'll come over to the Mix-Ability challenge and join the fun!
Thanks for stopping by!
