Impression Obsession - new products for May

It's time for a new monthly release from Impression Obsession, as we switch our schedule to release new products on the 1st of the month! Haven't seen the new products? They're all HERE - go take a peek!  

One of my new products is this paper pack, which is uniquely me! Each paper is one of my actual mixed media backgrounds. Some of these were intentional, and some are actually the papers I use to roll off my brayer and protect my work surface when I paint or ink blend. They make a perfect card base, or a base for your own additional mixed media layers!

There's a good variety of color in the pack, but the grungy look makes these papers perfect for masculine cards. This one is very simple, and showcases some other new products! Jeanne has a couple of texture background stamps, and I put a few of my favorite textures into a clear stamp set that will take permanent residence on my desk. There is a crackle texture, script and type, and a patterned border. Instead of putting these stamps on a block, I ink them and then curve them with my fingers so I can stamp just partial images.

For my focal panel, I stamped the Grungy Dots Cover-a-Card, then blended with the same ink to fill in the white space on the panel. I stamped the script and crackle images around the panel to add texture, then swiped a little acrylic paint with an old credit card to create a focal area that contrasted my die cut words. For the words, I used a little trick I learned from Lydia Fiedler - before I did my die cutting, I covered my cardstock with a cold laminate tape (packing tape works great too, but the tape I have is a little wider).

Since I used a Cover-a-Card stamp here, I want to share this announcement... IO will no longer be producing these beautiful red rubber background stamps! 😭 You have until May 15th to order your favorites - after that they will be gone. There are 458 CAC designs to choose from, and 78 of them are mine.  The red rubber slimline stamps will also be gone - if you have not seen the beautiful large format florals in that section, make sure you take a peek!

Impression Obsession Product Focus: Background Stamps

The Impression Obsession team has some projects to share today featuring our Cover-A-Card background stamps! If you're not familiar with these stamps, they are red rubber cling mounted stamps, measuring 5.75" x 5.75"- they are perfect for use on mini slimline and A2 cards in either landscape or portrait format. There are hundreds of designs to choose from - around 80 of those are mine!

I used 2 Cover-a-Card stamps on this card. My background panel started with a gel printed sheet of coated paper - I stamped the  Rainbow Scales background over it and embossed clear for a resist technique. Interestingly, the ink I used to brush over the panel started reacting with whatever I had used for the print and it lifted. I tried a few different colors and kept blending until it evened out, then brayered a little white acrylic paint on the raised image to lighten the pattern.

I stamped another background on the cross panel, and inked the edges to lessen the contrast on the white cardstock. The Pooh die cut is watercolored with some additional Copic texture.

Impression Obsession Product Focus: Cover-a-Card Stamps

The Impression Obsession team has some projects to share today featuring our Cover-a-Card background stamps! These glorious red rubber stamps are 5.75" square, perfect for stamping an A2 card base in either orientation!

Here's one of my newest background stamps that came out earlier this year - this one is fun to color up, and makes a great background on a card for a crafty friend. (It reminds me of a t-shirt I saw that had art supplies on it and said "Weapons of mass creation." Love that! This background was colored with Copic markers - I love the sharp contrast with the negative space colored black! Pop!

Impression Obsession DT Theme - Floral Delights

The Impression Obsession team has some projects to share today featuring a floral theme - we'd love for you to play along with us!  

I don't think I've shared this card before - I don't want you to forget that we still have gorgeous red rubber background stamps, including some big and beautiful florals! This is one of Alesa Baker's blown-up images called Cover-a-Card Camellia. I watercolored it in layers with a 'no-line' look. The sentiment I used here is retired, but if you love and need it let me know and I'll add it to my digital store! It is neglected and due for an update soon.

Impression Obsession - January Team Favorites

The IO Team is back today to share a favorite card from this month's release, so here's mine! Head over to the Impression Obsession Blog for all the links so you don't miss anything.

I didn't get to share this card or collection yet - you might remember these designs from a release that came out just before we made the decision to discontinue individual rubber stamps last year, so in case you missed those, they'll come back little by little as clear sets. I think that collection of art and crafting supplies is so fun. If you haven't seen the Art Supplies paper pack yet, be sure to check that out too! It turned out beautifully.

The paint set has 2 different tubes, with solid stamps you can use to fill in the swatch area or create a funky abstract pattern. The Cover-a-Card has the same designs in a smaller repeat, and they're fun to coordinate. I used the same Oxide ink here to stamp the swatches and brush the background panel.

Impression Obsession - more January products

We've got more projects from the new release from Impression Obsession today! If you haven't seen the new release, you can find it all HERE - go check it out! 

Some of you have asked if there will be more Pooh sets - OF COURSE there will! For January I have the Valentine Piglet and Eeyore set - these have been Dinafied with sweet little hearts for Valentine's Day and beyond! Lots of tiny sweet sentiments as well. If you caught Sarah's demo from the Paper Cut at the Crafter's Classroom this past weekend, you saw this set in action! 

For my first card I used a new background stamp called Ancient Lace - that image is taken from a very old book about textiles and it makes a really lovely and grungy backdrop. Piglet is colored with markers and pencils, and I used a scrap from one of my Christmas paper pads to paper-piece the heart.

Here's the Eeyore image - it's a nice large one! The background here was done with one of my new stencils, which is called Four Petal - I love dogwood blossoms and this sort of geometric repeat... the base of that panel was a piece of cardstock I used to test a bunch of Copic markers, and I brayered white acrylic paint onto my gel press then laid the stencil down to take a print.

Impression Obsession product focus - Cover-a-Card background stamps

The Impression Obsession team's challenge today is to create a project using one of our Cover-a-Card stamps! Did you know I have 70 Cover-a-Card stamps in my stamp line? (I didn't!) Check them out HERE!

These are older cards with retired sentiments, but I wanted to share them together - I have several of these "pixel" stamps in my line and they are really so versatile! This Pixel Poinsettia is a half-tone image that can be used in a monochromatic scheme like the card above, or stamped and colored like the card below (watercolors used here)! The shading in the image is indicated by the concentration of dots, and it offers great coloring cues. The full background size allows them to be used in any orientation, too. Be sure to check out the other florals in the Pixel collection for your upcoming spring cards!

Impression Obsession - more September kit projects

I hope you're enjoying the projects with the new kit! I'll be adding a couple more Pooh themed clear sets to my spring release, and then we'll have to revisit the gang again when Tigger comes into the public domain in 2024! 

Here is another project for today - This Piglet image is a really nice size, and this is one that required a little creative 'surgery' to design, adapting the original imagery to be able to hold something. Not sure if you noticed, but the leaves in the kit match the leaves in the Cover-a-Card stamp I used, and also the leaves in my fall paper pack, so those are great to have and use together!
