acrylic painting

Just wanted to share another card painted with acrylic paints that I shared on the Flourishes blog last month... the focal panel was stamped using an image from Flourishes' Lenten Rose set, and then painted using acrylic paints! I don't have a tutorial yet... maybe when I have a little more experience I’ll be able to put some photos and tips together. I stamped the Rose image onto some textured watercolor paper in a grey waterproof ink, then started by painting the leaves first – with this technique you load two colors of paint on your brush so each stroke has a light and dark side. The roses were painted after the leaves were dry, then I waited again and added shading and highlights with watered down paint, using a liner brush, the wooden end of my paintbrush, and a stipple brush. The sentiment I used is framed in oval die cuts, and is from the Strawberries set.I repeated the rose image in the lower panel in black to tie in the gingham ribbon. The watercolor paper was scored around the edge and then edged lightly with gold ink. The pearls were colored black with an alcohol marker. Thanks for stopping by!
