daffodils and birthdays

Here's another older card, but I'm feeling spring-ish today! Actually I've been in the kitchen all day... cooking is one of my love languages and today is my husband's birthday so I wanted to prepare him a special meal. Almost everything that I wanted to make could be done ahead of time, so with macaroni salad in the fridge, chocolate cream pie cooling, chicken marinating... I'm just taking a break before I have to go and face the piles of dishes!

This is Butterfly with Daffodils, an Impression Obsession stamp... the image is watercolored, and cut out with a Coluzzle template. This background paper is something I designed just messing around in PhotoImpact with a wallpaper image from the Graphics Fairy... not sure what process I went through on it, and I could probably never do it again!

There was a question about scoring edges the other day - I score the edges of my panels using my Score-Pal, cutting the panel to size first, and then scoring just inside the edge. (BTW, on the oval panel - I just eyeballed the distance from the edge and scored that edge with a stylus). Sometimes I score from the back, and sometimes right on the front - depends on when it hits me to do the scoring... if I have too much dimension involved to flip the panel over, I just score the panel right side up.

Speaking of daffodils, I picked up this little Lindsay's Stamp Stuff digital set from mygrafico.com the other day... one of these days I will use all these digital stamps I am amassing... good thing they don't take up any space!

Happy weekend!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. I'm sure Russ appreciated all your hard work!
Hope his birthday was a happy one.
Love the daffodils & butterfly... this is such a pretty card! My daffodils were beginning to bloom with the pretty 71 degree weather we had for 2 days..... until... SNOW began falling & lasted all day yesterday. That's Texas weather for ya! I'm afraid to look at my blooms today (esp. since it's 25 out there this morning)!
