bloom where you're planted.....
.....even if you find yourself planted in someplace unexpected.
Here are 2 variations on the same layout sketch - the tall card was actually the original idea, then I squished it down to a standard size card.
I had the flower-in-a-teacup idea for some time before it made it onto paper. I'm always tickled to see my ideas "work"...
I used 3 different smARTworks sets here - the teacup is from Tea Bitties, flower from Birdie Bitties, and the text from Scatter Delight Bloom. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position everything, and Prismacolor pencils to fill in the flower and cup, and make the shadowed area. There's lime green chalk along the stem. I drew the stem in with a pen using a ruler. I drew the leaves in on the green card, too, but they seemed to accentuate the crooked saying (!!) so I left them off on the orange card, though the saying came out straight (I think!).
I flipped over the main panel and used the scoring blade on my Fiskars cutter to score along each edge - for some reason that adds a layer in my mind. There's also piercing around the circle layers, sort of hard to see here.
So here's the sketch if you want to make your own - hey, let's make it a challenge just for fun. Make a card using this sketch, and post a link here by midnight Friday Aug. 24 - I'll pick a random winner from the participants (does that make you "challenged"?) for some blog cannoli....which will be a smARTworks stamp set of your choice, up to $6.00 (US) in value! :) I did roll past 25,000 hits this week, after all!
Such a clever girl! You always see something in the rubber that's beyond what meets the eye. I really, REALLY love this one!
ReplyDeleteok so I commented on the tag instead of here. I like the tag too, but these cards are simply pretty!

ReplyDeleteI am rather new to your blog but I will definitely be back many more times. I saw your sketch and had to give it a try for myself. It's my first ever sketch challenge that I have given an attempt. You can see my design here:

ReplyDeleteLovely card. Interesting sketch. I would never have thought to flip the cs and use my Fiskars scoring blade. Gotta try that.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Dini!
