Lend a Hand

All the challenges have been posted for Hope You Can Cling To, and one week remains for all our participants to finish up their cards and post them to the gallery. It's been a great month and we're hoping to meet our goal of sending 4000 cards to MD Anderson!

I hosted 2 challenges during the event, and I thought I'd share the samples from my first challenge, which was a lot of fun... the challenge was inspired by the 'helping hands' that come along to help us through in times of trouble, and participants could either use an image with hands, or use their own hands in the creation of their cards.

I stared by masking with die cut tape, but by the time I was done, the lines weren't clean, so I just layered die cut cardstock letters over the coloring. I used my fingers and some Nuance powders from Magenta to create the background and stain my fingers a lovely hot pink!

For my second card, I traced around my hand on watercolor paper with a black embossing pen (the one I used is discontinued but seems to be the same as this one), and embossed with clear powder.

I used watercolors to create a wet-into-wet background around the embossed lines, which resisted the watercolor (though *I* couldn't resist throwing some splatters inside the lines... I mayyyy or may not have been trying to cover up that smudge up there...).

The sentiment is from Serendipity Stamps, one of our event sponsors - I love that one. Super dark impression is thanks to the MISTI - I usually stamp sentiments 3 times for really good coverage.

Hard to believe it's November already - I've been busy getting things ready for next week's Holiday Blitz event at Splitcoaststampers! If you don't receive the Special Events newsletter, sign up now so you don't miss anything! Or stay tuned here - I'll be sharing my samples every day from Nov. 8-15.

Have a great week!

Thanks for stopping by!
