Dina Kowal Creative: Spellbinders June Glimmer Kit

Starting off with a random bit of news I have been waiting for - soooo excited to hear this week that Missouri will still have a State Fair this year, in some form!

Aside from the art show at the fair (I'm hoping to make Top 50 this year with my Bel Air drawing!), the Dahlia exhibit is one of the highlights for me every year - so much beauty and variety in size, shape, color and fullness.

I added a halftone Dahlia background to my Spring stamp release earlier this year - this style of stamp is so fun and easy to color, because the density of the dots tells you right where to add shadows. This one is watercolored with some added pencil details, but they work well with any medium.

This month's Glimmer club kit from Spellbinders is full of large sentiments, and these are perfect for using over large backgrounds! An inked stamp would get lost in the coloring.... a stamped panel would cover up so much of the background image.... but a foiled sentiment can flash through the detail without distracting from the image. (There are a couple of cards HERE where I foiled over a stenciled image - such a pretty look.) The font on these is beautiful and they are such a great size, each about 2-1/4" high. I have a feeling these will get a lot of use!

I had a piece of pink foiled cardstock from an old kit that perfectly matched the Spellbinders pink foil and that made a perfect base. Sooo much pink! But the flash of that foil - just so pretty.
