Splitcoast Tutorial: Die Cut Corner Basket

This week's tutorial over on Splitcoast is a Die Cut Corner Basket - this unique basket uses folded die cuts for the sides, and it can take many different forms!

The sample made for the tutorial uses a half-circle die - I took a different route and used this brand new beautiful background die from Impression Obsession:

The die is 5" on the long side, so I cut two panels and scored 1-1/4" from each end to create the sides. My base was cut to 3" square, and scored 1/4" from each side.

The panels overlap about 1/8" on the sides, so I glued the handles to the outside of the basket to strengthen that joint.

This little label is another new die - I love the dotted stitching lines! Such a dainty detail. The sentiment is from this layered coffee pot set, one of my new ones.

Lots of possibilities with this tutorial, especially with larger dies! Hope you'll try it.

In other news this week, I finished another batch of paper beads with some new shapes...

I'm working on this sweet commission for an artist friend you might know... any guesses?

... and I've been working with local people-who-know-people-and-get-things-done to get an Art Walk going for our county! Looking forward to our first event in April.

Cheers!
Thanks for stopping by!
