Spellbinders February Kits: Art Studio Abstracts!
When I first saw this month's kits from Spellbinders I wasn't too sure about all these abstract shapes - but once I got started playing with them, I couldn't stop! The shapes are perfect for so many things, from patterns on a card to flowers and more.................. but I saw jewelry pieces.
This printed sheet was in my file, and this is not even a gel print - it's a piece of paper I had to the side of my Gel Press to clean the plate and roll off excess paint from my brayer. All the overlapping colors were perfect for focal pieces! I arranged the dies and taped them down for good design placement, then ran them through my die cutting machine.
Each pendant has 4 layers of paper total - the top piece plus 3 identical layers of watercolor paper. They're adhered together with white glue.
Once the layers dried, I punched holes with a metal punch (I have this one).
All that was left was to embellish the pieces and attach them to jewelry cord and wire! There is collage paper on the back of each piece, so they are all reversible, too. I've added them all to my Etsy store in case there's one that whispers your name!
I never think I like abstract jewelry until I pull out something like this - I love this one!
On a few of the pieces I used a plate from this month's Glimmer Kit to add some foiled metallic accents. The kits play soooo well together!
Here's the back side of that pendant. I love the vintage botanical print! These are so lightweight and comfortable to wear, too.
I incorporated my handmade paper beads on a couple of the pieces as well.
This is one I can see myself wearing. Love this style.
Here are the club details, if you're interested! I have a feeling this kit may sell quickly, with all that it can do - if you love it, don't wait to sign up!
