Splitcoast Tutorial: Micro Glaze™ Resist

It's my turn to share a tutorial over at Splitcoast - I'm pulling out an old favorite technique using Micro Glaze! Micro Glaze is a creamy wax paste that's usually used to waterproof inked or painted surfaces, but that waterproof property makes it great for resist techniques as well. So - check out my Micro Glaze Resist technique here!

I went a little nuts at the Dollar Tree this last week, getting supplies for holiday crafting - they have so many fun things that can be other things! They have these thin unfinished wood ornaments that are perfect for fall tags or banners - these are about 3-3/4" wide.

I used this super cool Fancy Web stencil from A Colorful Life Designs - if you haven't seen their new September release... RUN! These designs are so much fun. Remember you can always use my code DinaFan10 for 10% off your order!  I love that this one has a cut edge and you can plop it wherever your heart desires.

Here's a closeup so you can see the resist pattern created with the Micro Glaze. Such a cool technique, with lots of possibilities.

Instead of paint on this one I used a dye-based spray and Brusho. The sentiment is from this Fun Stampers Journey set.

Check out this gorgeous Skeleton Leaf stencil...

Again with the cut edge. Stunning.

I'll share the video here just for fun - I hope you'll give this one a try!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. This is very cool.
I am confused. The very colorful leaf with the white veins...how did that happen? If you put the glaze on over the stencil...that would protect the white base/veins and then the color goes to that like the spiderweb on the pumpkin or the leaf with the red brusho-but here the veins stayed white..?
