Impression Obsession Spring Release - Day 3

The Impression Obsession team is showcasing new Spring images that are available NOW! You can visit the I.O. Blog all this week for links to the previews and ALL the challenge details. Leave a comment on our designers' posts throughout the week for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate from Impression Obsession!

If you're new to my blog, then you may not know that I'm not only on the Impression Obsession design team - I'm also one of their artists! You can find all my stamps HERE. I'm also the Artist in Residence over at Splitcoaststampers, and I'm sharing a fun and easy stenciling technique tutorial over there today that I used on these cards!

Fascinator Guinea Pig
Chocolate Builder clear set

I adore these guinea pigs - if you've been hopping with us this week, you've seen the others as well (Curious Guinea Pig and Coffee Guinea Pig) - they just make me grin! This one is colored with Copic markers. The background is done with Hybrid Inks and stencils from A Colorful Life Designs (Sweater Knit and Grunge Dots)

My second card is done in the same way, but using a rectangle stencil (from the Stencil Stacker Rectangles set) along with the Doodle Wheels stencil. The brushes I am using came from Amazon - I've really enjoyed working with them, and they clean very easily... they're soft but incredibly dense. They're even more fun with PanPastels - I'll work on a tutorial soon! For this card I used Colorbox Premium Dye inks, and Versafine for the silhouette.

Girlfriends Silhouette
Being There

The main panel there is popped up on a piece of fun foam for dimension. I love the contrast of that fun stenciled background with the deep black silhouette! This sentiment too - can you relate?

Be sure to check out the other designers' blogs for inspiration - you'll find a full list of their names on the I.O. Blog! You're not required to comment on every post, but the more comments you leave, the more chances you have to win - each one of us has a $25 gift certificate to give away! Our winners will be announced by IO on Monday Jan 14, and we'll have a new feature to share with you on that day as well.

Thank you for visiting me!

Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I CAN RELATE to LOVING that contrast, Dina! LOVE the image! My daughter would LOVE IT TOO, if she were here! (Thinking of her & her friends!) ;) AND the Guinea Pig IS ADORABLE! I noticed those right away with this release! ;) AND THANK YOU for the link to the brushes! I saw a set the other day someone recommended from Amazon, but the set you used is cheaper & is FLEXIBLE. Whereas the other set, people complained of them breaking! THANKS DINA!!! A SUPER JOB on your cards!!!

  5. Dina, I HAD TO come back & ask you a question: What is the difference between Pan Pastels & Regular Pastels in stick form? Is there a difference? THANKS!!! ;) Oh, I tried the Artist Tac you sent & I LOVE IT TOO! It IS NICE for those intricate dies! APPRECIATIVE HUGS FRIEND!!! ;)

    1. Hey you! The sticks need something to keep them in a shape, so they do have a higher proportion of binder. The pans have "minimal binder" - they are basically just compressed powder. I love them!

    2. Thanks Dina! I've been trying to figure how to get pastels without the high cost! LOL Do you need a fixative for them to not smear then- the pan pastels? I know chalks in general need something like hair spray so they won't smear, so I figured you would with them being chalk. Am I right? THANKS for answering all these questions! LOL
