Do you DARE (To Get Dirty)?

Today is the first day of Dare To Get Dirty! The Splitcoast Team kicks off the event, so I'm hosting a challenge today. I can't share the details of the challenge, but I will share the technique I used to make these fun note cards!

I have been playing with Brushos on different papers, and I'm really having fun with photo paper. Since it takes an instant 'print' of the inks, the results can sometimes be a bit spotty if the product is used on the paper directly.

For this technique I activated the powders with water first on an absorbent coffee filter and let them bleed and blend first....

Then I used the filter to transfer color to the photo paper through a stencil (this one is from Martha Stewart Crafts).

To fill in where the stencil missed, I tamped the filter into the open areas, adding more Brusho as needed directly to the filter and spritzing it with water as I went.

To fill in some of the white space, I flipped the stencil and made a reverse monoprint around the colored areas.

Since this is a large stencil, I was able to cut 2 backgrounds from the print. I used a die from Taylored Expressions for the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!
