Impression Obsession DT Challenge: Party Time

The Impression Obsession team's challenge today is to create a project with a birthday theme. When I was ready to work on my project I had this wooden cupcake sitting on my desk, so I decided to alter it, just for fun. I've had it for a while - it must have been on sale!

I removed the 'frosting' from the cake and traced around the piece on a gel print to create a base for my coloring and stamping. After cutting out the shape, I glued it on to the wood panel and used a file to smooth the edges of the paper into the wood.

I did a little stamping with Stazon ink, and sponged around the edges to give a more vintage look. The cherry was colored using acrylic markers.

For the base of the cupcake, I just painted a solid color with acrylic paint, then layered stamped texture and more paint. The floral background was stamped and then colored in with diluted acrylic markers and a Uni Posca paint pen.

Stamps I used: Simple Flower Background, Interesting Texture 1, French Script

  3. interesting technique and love the results of a vintage cupcake. Wouldn't that look cute on an over-sized cloths pen to hold a recipe?
