Mix-Ability challenge - Color Wheel
This week I'm hosting the Mix-Ability challenge, and we're studying the color wheel!
On this wheel, the ring marked HUE is made up of the traditional colors that we normally see on color wheels. To the outside are SHADES, which are essentially "hue + black". To the inside are the TINTS, which are essentially "hue + white". For this week's challenge, we're choosing 3 main colors - one from each ring. You can choose any colors you wish, as long as one distinguishable shade, hue, and tint are present.
A friend of ours blessed me with 4 huge bags of beautiful clothes last week, so I wanted to make her a special holiday thank you card - my card has red hues, red shades, and some yellow green tints. This holiday stamp is from the Cottage Stamper, and was an ebay find. It's watercolored with QoR watercolors and highlighted with some gold acrylic paint.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I have a new sewing machine to get acquainted with, and made myself a few pretty charm bracelets as well. For our kids, this Christmas made up for several 'lean' years, so they're all enjoying new electronics and toys. Stay tuned next week for a special blog hop and some other fun surprises!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteStunning Poinsettia Dina, I love the touch of gold on the petals, simply gorgeous!! I have a spool of ribbon I bought for $1.00 at Hobby Lobby in the bargain bin that looks similar to the one in your beautiful card, so I will totally CASE it. Thank you for sharing Dina and I wish for you a wonderful 2015, may it be full of Love, Peace, Health and Joy for you and your family.

ReplyDeleteThank you for a color wheel that includes tertiaries and tints & shades! It's a handy, clarifying reference. Glad your Christmas was wonderful! Abundant Blessings in the New Year
ReplyDeleteOh, what an exquisite card, especially with the beautiful ribbon, which is so traditional and classic! And your coloring is always "off the charts" along with the fussy cutting! Stunning! Being a quilter, I remember about the color wheel. Good reminder for me! Hugs!
