Holiday Blitz Tutorial: Fold Over Box
Today's Holiday Blitz tutorial is a beautiful Fold Over Box. The sample for the tutorial is 6" x 6" but the dimensions are easily customizable to whatever size box or gift you want to create... it's sort of like a card and gift in one!
We're getting ready to travel this week, and I thought a purse size box would be fun to make. I've recently started using essential oils and I want to take a few small bottles along with me on our trip. Here are the measurements, in case you'd like to make a box this size.
My inside box needed to be 1" high, and 2-1/4" x 3". I cut the cardstock to 4-1/4" x 5" and scored in 1" on all sides. I covered some of the sides of the box with patterned cardstock.
For the outer cover I cut my cardstock to 3-1/2" x 6" and scored at 2-1/2" and 3-1/2". That allowed me to snug my box up to the fold on one side, with a 1/4" border around the other 3 sides. I also chose that size so I could use white matboard ATCs from Inchie Arts for my covers - those are 2-1/2" x 3-1/2". I left the back ATC plain, and used a Lili of the Valley image on the top - it's watercolored with QoR watercolors.
I made a simple insert to hold 3 bottles in place - that was cut to 1-1/2" x 5" and then scored at 1", 1-1/2", 2", 3", 3-1/2" and 4".
