Impression Obsession DT Challenge: Ghoulish Greetings

Did you enjoy our die hop this week? Thanks to each one of you for the comments you left! Now we're back to our regular challenge schedule. The Impression Obsession team's challenge today is to create a project with a Halloween theme.

I'm pretending this is a Halloween card because I made the background with my Gelli Plate with Halloween in mind. It's not especially Halloween-y after all. Oh well.

I stamped the branch from the Owl Be Thankful clear set over my background, then colored in a few elements with an acrylic paint marker and added highlights with white paint and pencil. The owl was watercolored using Peerless Watercolors (I'm loving these for detail work, using those tiny nail art brushes...), and he's popped up on foam tape. To the corner of my background I dry-brushed some white acrylic paint to create a space for the sentiment.

For the grid texture on the background I have a special secret weapon - it's a large size soup can that I covered with drywall tape. I just roll it over my Gelli plate while paint is still wet.

  7. I do love your mixed media work and in this case the colours alone suggest Halloween to me. Thank you for sharing the drywall tape picture (now I know what to look for). It certainly makes great textural backgrounds even if only used lightly. Brilliant idea to wrap it around a can!
