New toy...

We were away from home last week and I came home to a happy stack of mail, including my most recent order from Blick. I enjoy shopping but I am insanely practical, and it takes me hours to decide on which items will make the most optimum fillers of my cart and best use of my money.

I sometimes drive myself crazy.

One of my purchases was a Gelli Plate, and I have to confess that I have resisted buying one for so long because I knew I would fall in love with it.

I was right.

I spent most of the afternoon playing with paints, and experimenting with different techniques and colors. I got the 6" x 6" plate, and it's such a practical size for card fronts. It fits full stencils, and it was easy to line up  quarter sheets as well.

I'm using a clay-coated cardstock to pull my prints, and it's working so well. It is available HERE, or check at your local paper store. Ask for Mohawk Ultra Gloss, or they may know it as the cardstock formerly called Kromekote. The weight I am using is 10 point.

So much fun! After I figure out a few things, I'll let my camera run while I play, so you can watch!

I kept a sheet of Neenah cardstock next to my work area to clean my brayer and stencils off - it's a beautiful mess!

Have a wonderful week!
Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I love my Gelli plates....the only problem is I always feel I need a large block of time to devote to it, so don't get to it as often as I would like. The flip side to that problem is I have a good stash of backgrounds that I can use. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
