Mix-Ability - Finger Painting

Jeanne's Mix-Ability challenge this week is to use our fingers to apply some medium to our projects. I love using my fingers... if you could see them now, you'd see that 3 of my fingernails are ringed in blue ink, and my palm is stained a lovely turquoise.

I went at this background with absolutely no plan but to experiment. I started with clay-coated cardstock and gave it a few spritzes of Smooch Spritz (Vanilla Shimmer) - have you tried this stuff? It is so rich and pearly - not watery like some of the other sprays.

To the spray, I added some drops of reinker and used my fingers to move and blend them, then spritzed again - once with alcohol to see what it would do, and then with water around the edges to help the ink feather out.  Just for fun, I threw some salt on the panel, but I didn't have the patience to wait for it to dry, so I dried it with my heat gun, and it ended up making dark spots instead of light.

I die cut the panel, and layered it on white cardstock, then embossed with a Darice folder. My final finger action was with Inka Gold, which is my latest addiction... this is the Old Silver, which is kind of a champagne color.

  2. You are allowed gloves! I save all the fingers from hair dye gloves for my messy habits.

  8. Beautiful colorful background. Going to try it. I love the idea of cutting fingers from the gloves used for hair dying. Who would think! Going to adopt that as well.
