Mix-Ability - Pass the tissues...

There's a new Mix-Ability challenge up over at Splitcoaststampers! Janelle's challenging us to use some crumpled tissue paper on our projects. I had an older project all lined up to share... and then... my computer died. We have frequent power outages and brown-outs here, so it's not surprising that something internal could get fried... but that doesn't make it easy! So I'm adaptable, and doing what I can from other computers in the house while it gets fixed (they SAY it can be fixed!!), but it feels a bit like living out of a suitcase. Actually, I feel sort of homeless... I'm so grateful, though, that there are other computers in the house I can use, that my files are safe and sound in the meantime, and that I had sent off my new batch of stamps for the next Impression Obsession release the night before!

I had fun, anyway, making a new card to share! I was in a Halloween mood, so I went that direction - I had a piece of cardstock that I had scraped with orange and black acrylic paints, so I used that for my card base. I covered that piece with kraft tissue paper, adhering it with watered down glue. When it was dry, I lightly rubbed dark brown paint over the piece with my finger to highlight the wrinkles in the tissue paper.

The focal image (Ghost Espresso) was stamped on Neenah cardstock, then brayered with acrylic paint. After the paint was dry, I added more color with Lyra Polycolor pencils, and some acrylic and India ink markers.

Hope you'll join us for the challenge this week!
Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Very nice card. I haven't tried braying on paint over a stamped image so I do believe I may have to steal your idea and give it try.
