Borderless Roses

It's been fun getting started with the Pencil Basics class - I have an eager group of ladies, each with their own unique style of creating and processing information. To celebrate the classroom opening last week, I colored this image from Impression Obsession using a borderless technique that I explain in the class. I love Alesa Baker's images for their simple and elegant line art... it makes them so versatile. This one is called Beauty Roses... I think I must have had the rose from Beauty and Beast in my head when I was working - the arched frame makes it look like it's under a glass dome. Hee! Love that movie.

The die I used is my own design, a set called Banners and Tails. There are 2 clear sentiment sets that coordinate with the dies, but they're still in the mail, so I used a partial sentiment from another set this time.

Here's a close-up on those roses! I stamped the image in Memento Pear Tart ink. If you're interested in learning the shading techniques I used, you are welcome to join the class - you can start at any time and work at your own pace. I'd love to have you!

Have a great week!
Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Dina, your roses are very pretty. I love the way you have them shaded. It does remind me of the roses in Beauty and the Beast Disney movie. But I like yours way better!!!

  5. The roses are gorgeous, I only hope that with time and practice I will be able to color like our teacher.
