Pencil Shading Tutorial

Just wanted to let you know that I have a new tutorial posted at Splitcoaststampers today! The tutorial is based on an article I wrote on shading with colored pencils. Many stampers are concerned about realistic coloring and want to add shading to their colored images so that they appear natural. Theory about light sources can be confusing for the beginner. I wanted to share my basic technique for shading - hopefully these ideas will simplify shading for you so you can color with more confidence.

Here are the samples I created for the tutorial........

There's a video that accompanies the tutorial - it's pretty condensed, but hopefully it's helpful for more visual learners. If anyone is interested in the full version at actual speed, please let me know.

Go check it out!!

Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Very pretty flower! WhooHoo! I'm so glad you produced the tutorial, I've been looking forward to it! I've always admired your coloring, and your stamp designs. I do need help with my coloring, it doesn't help that I spend very little time practicing or playing tho I'm collecting prismas. I plan to check out your tut when I have time to sit here more than a few quick minutes! :) I just needed a taste, a quick reminder and inpsiration from your beautiful artwork today before I move on to "work" stuff.
