Wait on the Lord

Can I just say again how I love the combination of this new ODBD eagle with the set 'On Eagles Wings'? Here is another interp of the sketch challenge going on over at the Our Daily Bread designs blog. I rotated and tweaked the sketch and scooched the oval over to make room for the partial verse - ok, it's sort of a loose interpretation, but all the parts are still there! The eagle was stamped in Amber Clay chalk ink and watercolored. I colored in the eye with a black gel pen after the paint was dry, and added a little acrylic paint highlight with a small stylus. The dark panel is bronze metallic cardstock, available also at ODBD. It is super thick and great to work with. I added some embossed diamonds (with my stylus again, and a Fiskars texture plate) across the top just for fun.

This verse, Isaiah 40:31, is always such an encouragement to me - "They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint"... it always strikes me that there are times in our spiritual lives that we can run unhindered, unburdened... and there are also times that we walk - times of correction, times of training, times of 'pruning', testing, struggle, brokenness, depression even - slowly, but forward. I guess in busy times and stressful times my focus is more toward 'not being weary' and 'not fainting'! This final verse in the context of the entire chapter is an awesome reminder of God's greatness, and in spite of our weakness, His attention to us as individuals... loving, protecting, never tiring, and even giving strength. How cool is that?!

  2. Very nice card, cleverly done using the sketch and affirming your message. I think I am earning my 20th doctorate in waiting. But I must say the wait has been filled with blessing...
