scarecrow challenge

Every 2 months, the smARTworks design team members are all sent a certain "challenge set", and given the task of creating something unique with it. Our first challenge set was "Scarecrow." Here's one of my creations, and you can see the rest of them here.....this was lots of fun, and it's cool to see each members' style in their pieces. Can't wait for the next challenge!

This card is a Big Buckle card - you can find directions here, in another great tutorial by Beate Johns. Only thing different - I don't have a Word Window punch, so I punched two 1/8" holes, one at the top and one at the bottom of where my buckle wanted to tuck in, then connected the dots with my exacto knife. The slot is hiding underneath the flowers. Other than that, not much to tell about this guy - he's colored with Prismacolor pencils and propped up in a scalloped square punch.

If you like this scarecrow image, why not try to win your own? Head over to In the Works and check out Susan's Contest - if you can guess where and when she does most of the trimming and packaging of all the smART rubber...he's yours! First one to guess correctly wins the set!

On the home front...did I mention ever that we haven't had running water for a week now? but I did get my kitchen set up, so that's helpful. Baby steps........

  1. Wow - what a great job on the scarecrow card! Love the way you hid the slit under the flowers - I'd never have thought of that. No running water huh? With your little brood running around I'm sure you're more than ready for it to be on! The old saying 'This too shall pass' comes to mind - just hope it passes really quickly for you.

  3. Very cute. You sure came up with neat take on the scarecrow. I just love how he seems to be leaning out of the frame.
