a confession.....

OK, I'll admit it - I get distracted really easily in church. It's hard to pay attention for 2 hours, when we don't know all the songs, the kids are up and down, and the whole service is in a language we're still in the process of learning. So...yesterday as my mind wandered, I started looking at my skirt. Camel background, dark brown vine, with tan and burgundy flowers. You KNOW where my mind went then, don't you! *Hmmm...I can do that!*

All stamps used are by smARTworks. The flowers are from 2 different sets - Darling Duo and Daisy Trio. "Believe" is a "bonus rubber" stamp, one of the free stamps that may come with your order (smARTworks rocks!). I also used one more stamp on the horizontal panel - a background stamp from the Splatter set - that one gives kind of a mulberry paper effect - love it!

OK. I stamped some flowers in Adirondack Currant ink then a couple more in Versamagic Wheat. Then the pencils came out. I added some highlights and shading, then sketched in the vine. I love how it all came together. I'll have to play more with this. BTW, the Versamagic ink worked wonderfully for the technique where you stamp first in a light ink on a darker cardstock then color over.

That's gold embroidery floss bordering the flower panel - I put in 3 of the brads first, then stuck the thread through the remaining hole, wrapped it around the 3 brads, put it back through the first hole, then attached the final brad to hold it in place.

  1. Is it OK if I think I like it better as a card than a skirt? LOL! Seriously, this card is absolutely gorgeous, Dina.

  3. Oh man, if going to church is going to give that kind of inspiration, then I think I better go more often. This card is so amazingly beautiful!

  7. I definitely have to work hard to concentrate on the preaching at least when we take our missions trips to Cuba, though it's easy enough to worship in my own language (and so much fun when the songs are translations of English ones I know!)

I often get inspiration from clothing as well! Love the colors of this, and the style. Appreciate the brad/floss tip too!

  11. I love your card and especially the story about the inspiration coming from your skirt at (gasp!) church. The same thing happened to me once so I laughed when reading your story.
The card is exquisite, I love the touches that give it such a rich look. And btw, thanks for including my blog on your watermark website.

  13. How stunning! Funnily enough, this looks just like a sheer curtain in my bedroom with embroidery that I woke up staring at the other day thinking "I gotta stamp that!" lol, :0) Mel
