2 baby cards

Here are the two cards I made using the layout challenge in the previous post. I got myself in a baby mood - I have a sweet friend who is due in a few weeks...she miscarried late in her pregnancy last year, 10 days after I had my sweet little man...in the same hospital I delivered in. It was a really hard time. Anyway, this pregnancy has gone well for her, and she'll be having a baby boy soon! I just got thinking about it and got excited for her. Odd thinking about babies too...the other day I was having a hard morning anyway (time of month among other things) and flipped my calender over - it turned out to be the date 5 years ago that I miscarried. Ugh. Totally fell apart right there. I wasn't far along (5-1/2 weeks) but the ache is still there....if you've experienced that loss you know what I mean... Also heavy on my heart today are some friends in the mission that just lost their 18-year-old daughter 2 days ago to brain cancer. You know if you're a believer...and even if you're not...how when one part of your body hurts, the whole body hurts. It really is true in the Body of Christ as well.

*OK...pulling myself together...* Sorry~! This is not my "emoting" blog...

Stamp credits and creative detail shtuff: Those babies are from Stampola but I'm not seeing them on their site now...they are too funny, aren't they? That little bow is a separate stamp, and it is cracking me up on that little hands-on-her-hips babe. Coloring is done with Prismacolors and mineral spirits. The baby feet are from Biblical Impressions - they are available in 3 different sizes, and that is the teeny one. Too cute! "Baby" is a partial stamp from Eureka Stamps (sorry, I can't remember what the full stamp said). I did the other words with my 1/8" Snap Stamps. I need to get a 2nd set so I can do "welcome" and "sweet" at once without having to take them apart for the e's! These are both 5" square cards. The white panels are 4-1/2" squares, and scored 1/8" in from the edge for that little raised borderish look. That purple background paper is the pansy paper I designed on the computer the other day - looks cool, huh? Yes, I'm still impressed with myself... I used a Whale of a Punch Circle punch for the white circles (1-3/4"), and my Coluzzle to cut out the larger ones (diameter is 1-15/16"). All the circles are "popped" with mounting foam.

  1. OOOH, I like them! Love the colors! Wonderful job as usual.
I'm going to have to look into getting one of those snap stamp sets. Where did you get it?

Stampola shut down the business a couple years ago to devote time to the new babies. and then a few months or a year later, they reopened with a limited selection. I loved their stuff and got as much as I could before they closed down. I wish they would come back full force!
