Spellbinders - Saint Nick

I hope you're not too shocked by some Christmas in July! We're about half way there somehow... eek! My friends at Spellbinders sent me this charming old world Santa to play with - today was a perfect day to sit down with the set. The dies are thoughtfully grouped to cut by color, but I cut all my pieces out of textured watercolor paper and colored them with OLO markers and just enjoyed the process and assembly of each piece. So fun.

Here is a closer view of the die cuts - these are designed so well. You can't see, but the sections that layer have embossing lines to aid in placement of the upper pieces. I used a cream paint pen to add a few dots and dashes for a little accent. There are eye pieces and eyebrows but I left those off and just created some lashes with a pencil.

I had some extra pieces, so I created a couple of small tags and topped them with vintage fabric strips. I've been sewing this week and have scraps everywhere! I have artwork due soon so that is why I have been making MEMORY BEARS. You know how it is! The sentiments are from one of my IO sets - I will link it below! The arch dies are a retired Spellbinders set - I really liked how the shape looked with the vintage Santa.

Here are the tags - I have this ribbon slot punch that cuts a slit, and it's perfect for ribbon or fabric strips like this. Instead of knotting the fabric, I tied a little twine around it in a bow.
