Impression Obsession - Die Cut Obsession

There are so many amazing dies at Impression Obsession - this special Monday feature lets them have the spotlight! We hope you're inspired!

I did a fun little technique with the spider die on this card, so I wanted to share that today! That spider web background is a recent addition to my stamp line and you can find it HERE - I used this technique to do my background... I think that is just black Brusho powder, which has a lot of fun color components.

I die cut a hole in my background with a small circle die, and cut out a spider as well (it's 2 or 3 die cuts glued together for thickness). I used another circle die, smaller than the first one, to cut a piece of foam tape, and I added that to the back of the spider...

I flipped the background over onto the spider so that little foam dot would be framed in the hole, and then removed the liner and stuck another piece of cardstock on the back. I used a circle for this too, but just a scrap would do - it just needs to be larger than the hole.

That simple mechanism lets the spider shake, spin and wiggle on the web - it's pretty fun, and a simple way to add a little unexpected movement to a card.

Be sure to check out the other designers' blogs for inspiration - see the I.O. blog for all the details!

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I can only imagine the surprise or scare the recipient gets when they first realized the spider moved, that is until they figure it out! Will have to try this!!!
