Dina Kowal Creative: Spellbinders May 2019 Large Die kit

Just checking in with this month's Large Die club kit from Spellbinders! This is a sweet cake builder set that can go in so many different directions. The two main cake pieces have fold-back tabs that allow the cake to pop out from the card with a slight curve. (They're great ticket shapes as well!)

For this card I used a variety of the accessory dies to build a birthday cake - each piece is watercolored using Distress Oxide inks. Each layer piece has a separate inset that creates a beautiful pattern and grid placement for additional embellishments.

Here's an angled photo so you can see the foiling on the words and the metallic watercolor on the candles! The foiling plates are here - such a great multipurpose set. The stencil I used is from A Colorful Life Designs.

For my second card I used the scalloped inset die to create a border - the die is easy to line up for repeated cutting. I used this stamp, which is one of my newer designs from Impression Obsession.

One last card with the same color palette - for this one I used the smaller cake layer to make a little gift box.

Pro tip - I didn't have any narrow ribbon, so I carefully cut the satin edge off the ribbon I used for the bow! The sentiment I used is here, and this background stamp is one of my favorites!
