Spellbinders May 2019 Glimmer Kit

The newest Spellbinders Glimmer Foil kit of the month is here! This month's kit is a beautiful Filigree Frame, along with an oval that fits in the center of the frame, and 2 accent pieces with a coordinating die. I went several completely unrelated directions with the frame - there are so many things these plates can do!

For my first card, I foiled the frame using the Glimmer machine and the Polished Brass foil that comes with this month's kit. I watercolored around the outside of the frame in a mix of soft colors.

Here's an angled shot so you can see the shine on the foil, and that beautiful frame. The sentiment is a brand new one from Impression Obsession - not one of mine, but I love it, and it was such a perfect fit here. The heart was die cut from foam tape, and I foiled the adhesive after I removed the liner. So quick and easy!

For my coffee card, I  impressed the frame into a piece of cardstock (no heat needed for this technique) then brayered yellow Stazon pigment ink over the panel, which just picked up on the raised areas. I added a bit of stamped text and some more brushed ink, then stamped the steam flourish onto the card. The cup and saucer are from this nested die set by Sharyn Sowell (ooh, it's on sale!), and they're cut from some corrugated cardboard. The sentiment is here.

Here's a closer look at the cup and the background - I love the detail in the impressed image! I'm entering this one in the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop - more info here!

My cowboy card started in just the same way - I impressed the frame, and brayered the card with yellow Stazon pigment ink. Next I added a layer of dye ink by rubbing a light pink pad in the lighter areas. I misted the panel with one of these spritzers, and that darkened the frame design. To darken it further, I rubbed brown craft paint over the panel with a baby wipe - that 'stuck' in the frame and blended in to the rest of the background.

Below the cowboy image, I used some diluted black gesso to extend the hill. I watercolored around the outside of the frame to make the center look brighter. The overall look reminds me of tooled leather, and I really like the effect. Sentiment is here!

Here's the full kit, and there's subscription information at the end of my post. Remember to check out the amazing Spring sale while you're over at Spellbinders! Lots of great deals in there!

Hope you have a great week!
