Splitcoast Tutorial: Bridge Fold Card

This week's tutorial over on Splitcoast is a Bridge Fold Card - these have been very popular in recent months, and I'm so happy to have this in our archives now! Be sure to check out Sandi's adorable unicorn card on the site.

I used different dimensions for my card so it would fit into a Social Envelope (4-3/4" x 6-1/2"). My base is 5-1/2" x 6-3/4", and I scored it at 2-1/4" from each end. I folded it in 3 to cut the arch, and then cut 3 strips of decorative paper at 2" wide and cut them the same way (below).

TIP: To create a bridge card of any size, determine your card height. Determine the width you want your card to be, then add 1/2 that width again. (Example here - I wanted my card to be 5-1/2" x 4-1/2", so I cut my base at 5-1/2" x 6-3/4" (4-1/2" + 2-1/4"). Score at that 1/2-width from both ends.

I added squirrels to my birthday party, because the dog found a squirrel playmate this morning, and he revived and fled to enjoy another day.

Here's the card in one of those envelopes (they're also called A6 envelopes) - the back portion of the card folds to one side so the card can be mailed flat.

I'm finally getting over the flu after 2 weeks - nice to be back in the land of the living! Also, a note of thanks to those who voted for my artwork in the Blick contest! My piece ended up in 14th place, but I'm proud of that, knowing how easy it can be to purchase votes. So thank you for believing in me! I'm wrapping up some fall/winter stamp art, and then getting back to commissions this week!

Thanks for stopping by!
