Power Poppy Digital Release - Camellias

So excited to be hopping with the Bloom Brigade today!  Remember that if you comment on the Bloom Brigade's creations, you will be in the running to win the entire Winter Blitz Digi Release! We will draw one lucky person out of all of your comments. This beautiful Camellia digital set reminded me of  a favorite pink bush we had in our yard when I was small - I loved peeling tight buds off petal by petal.

I love large floral images, so I turned and stretched this one out past the margins of my cardstock. I'll share my project using the top portion later in December!  For today's project I used the leftovers to make 2 cards!

My base coloring was done with PanPastels and I used an eraser to remove extra color where I didn't want it. That's a great way to clean up lines...

...and also to 'add' highlights.

The rest of the coloring and detailed shading was done with Prismacolor Pencils.

If you love this Camellia image, you can purchase your own - it's available now! Want to see more ideas for using the set? Visit these dear friends!

  1. Hi Dina

Your cards are beautiful! Pan pastels and Prismacolor; I should mix my media more often.....

  3. Goodness gracious is this a vibrant blast of beautiful color!!! The rich hues are truly breathtaking Ms. Dina! I did wonder how you made that pattern in the background on the yellow portion -- did you just erase that by hand? Stunning!!! Can't wait to see the other creation as well!

  11. Oh, my word, Dina! Hold me back! This is incredible. You bring the most beautiful art to stamping and card making. I love the look of the PanPastels in the background and, of course, your amazing coloring with the Prismacolor pencils. The rose colored Camillias against the mustard background is a stunning, rich, deep breathtaking effect. Bravo!

  21. What a great idea to split a large image like this. You've got me thinking now! I'm not one for pastels though (too much dust) but I love the way these 'leftovers' look.
