Inchie Arts - Quilt Blocks

I've been wanting to try some paper quilting, and had the opportunity finally when a couple of challenges for DTGD converged. Here's a little set I made...

I cut squares from designer paper and some of my layered gel prints using the 7/8" Sizzix Grid Works die. The squares were laid on doubled sided adhesive sheets (Elizabeth Craft Designs) and then trimmed. I cut from corner to corner on a few of the squares, and divided some of those triangles in half as well.

I laid full squares and pieced triangles onto white matboard Inchie Squares from Inchie Arts and pieced those squares onto die cut panels of cardstock. I ran the assembled panels through my Big Shot using the Darice Wire Fence embossing folder - the dotted squares lined up almost perfectly with my little quilt pieces, and look like  stitching. Here's a closer look:

Here's a second card I made just using gel prints, and a slightly different star pattern. I found lots of 9-block patterns online - I'm sure I'll come back to this again!

The finished cards are 4.25" square.

Have you tried paper quilting? I'd love to see your results!

  3. I can't believe how perfectly the embossing folder squares lined up. Before I actually read the post I thought you had done them by hand somehow. I love your cards and thanks for the inspiration.
