Embossing Folder Monoprinting

Today's tutorial on Splitcoast will teach you a fun way to use inks or paints to create a 'stamped' background with an embossing folder.  That's something I've been playing with too, but using other mediums - so here's my video using the Inktense Blocks, to add more options to your prints!

The benefit of using the Inktense mediums is that they are permanent when dry - if you want to add more mixed media layers or even more layers of Inktense ink prints, the colors will remain true without bleeding together. Here's an example of what I mean... this is a screen shot of the card panel below when I printed it.

When the panel was dry, I added a layer of dye ink, more Inktense block colored directly to the panel, blended with water and added gesso through a stencil. You can still see the rose pattern through the layers. Not all mediums will allow that! Love it.

I brought some of my smaller unmounted House Mouse stamps with me, and I love this little guy... so messy and sweet. He's from Joanna Sheen's webstore.

Hope you'll check out Audrie's tutorial, and also take some time to experiment with the mediums you have at home!

Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Thanks for the tutorial, Dina. I don't think to use my emboss folders for stamping very often. Good way to get the "bang" for the buck!

  6. What a great use for all the embossing folders I have and rarely use. This will make them do double duty! Thanks.
