Inchie Arts - Poppies ATC
I was so excited to get the new ATC size matboard pieces from Inchie Arts that I sat down with my Prismacolor pencils and colored one up right away. I must be homesick - or just missing spring, or wildflowers... I ended up coloring a little scene of poppies in a field. I love poppies...
These images are from Flourishes' Poppy Patch set, and the flowers are separate so you can create your own bouquet or scene, or stamp a single flower. The picture below is actually how my dark cream ATC started - I stamped the images in Potter's Clay Memento ink.
Here is a closer image so you can see the tooth on the matboard - these take color so well. I took my time coloring and was able to layer many light layers of color to get the effect I wanted. Layers of color are good for the soul, I think. :)
Here's a closer look at the poppies - I actually used a dark blue and a dark brown to add shading after I was satisfied with my range of yellows and oranges - the blue was a little scary for me, but I think we need that sometimes! I've read that some artists use complementary colors for shading, and the brown adds a vintage touch that I tend to like in my colored work.
I think this ATC will stay as is, and probably end up in a frame so I can keep it on my desk! Can't wait to try one of these larger Art Squares on a card front - stay tuned for that!

P.S. I'm linking this up for Flourishes' summer challenge too - I know these are spring flowers, but the warm orange color reminds me of summer!
This card caught my eye. It is such beautiful card. I love the colors and the look.
