Mixed Media - Embossed Foiling

I had so much fun with with Lydia's Mix-Ability challenge this week! The challenge was to paint and distress foil. Foil... hmm... was on my shopping list this month and I completely forgot to pick some up. I did have a roll of copper foil tape, so I started with that, and tried out a new-to-me technique. Here's my first card, and a few pictures of my process...

I started by laying down my diecut, and tracing around my die so I made sure to cover enough area with the tape.

I embossed the panel, then cut out the label shape...

then spray painted the panel in black.

When the paint was dry, I dipped the corner of a rag in odorless mineral spirits, and rubbed it on the raised areas and edges of the panel.

Here's a close-up of the finished card.

So THAT was so much fun, I sent my daughter over to our co-workers' house to get a square of foil so I could try the technique and make a video!

Here's that card, and a tutorial for you. I'm sorry about the random background noise in the video! We've been on break this week, and the movie the kids were watching had lots of angry (rat) mob scenes! Not sure what was causing the buzzing.
