Let go of fear...

Confession: I wasn't going to do Trudy's Mix-Ability challenge this week... something about 'tear tiny pieces of designer paper' struck fear into my heart. Then I started thinking... the whole point of the Mix-Ability challenge is to encourage people to overcome their mixed media fears... and if a hostess can't do that, where will everyone else be?

So I did it... took 3 different scraps from my purple file, and tore them into inch-ish pieces, and stuck them down on a cardstock panel with watered down glue (no Mod-Podge in my corner of the world...). After it was dry, I ran the panel through my  Big Shot with a Tim Holtz embossing folder, then rubbed a white dye ink pad over the raised areas. I think I had the folder upside-down - but there are no rules, right?  Thought this dkdesigns sentiment (Key to Change) summed up my crafty experience...

Here's a close-up of the background - I think the embossing step helped adhere the layers and make it look like a single piece instead of a mosaic. I spread the glue on the panel below, and then on top of each piece as I added it.

I used the new Leafy Branch and Spiral Daisy dies for the branch element - on the daisy buds, I just used portions of the diecut instead of rolling the whole bloom.

Hope you have a great weekend! We have some family birthdays to celebrate, in addition to welcoming back some students who have been away on a language learning practicum - busy full days!

Thanks for stopping by!
