Hummingbird

I've had this hummingbird image (JustRite Stampers Back Yard Birds set) colored for a while, and it was a perfect fit for JustRite Stampers' sketch challenge this week, sponsored by Inchie Arts! The image is colored with Prismacolor pencils on a Twinchie Square from Inchie Arts. I thought I'd go with a different brand of hummingbird than the traditional ruby-throat... this is a purple-throated one!

I used a Spellbinders die (Labels 8) to emboss around the focal panel then sanded lightly over the lines to distress and highlight the frame.

The ribbon was tied with a Bow-Easy and I carefully hit it with my heat gun here and there to make it curl and bend. These are the Prismacolor pencils that I used (lots of colors for such a small space!):

  1. Pretty! I'll have to try using my heat gun on ribbon. Great effect.

What a beautiful card. I love the way you've colored the hummingbird. I really appreciate having the primsa colors you used. I've gotten away from using colored pencils since I discovered copics.
