upcoming Tea Party challenge, and smARTbucks!

I'm a little ahead of the game, but have something else to post tomorrow...and the next day...so I thought I'd give an early "heads up" on the upcoming Tea Party challenge, brought to us by Susan, our illustrious hostess and owner of smARTworks. Next Wednesday, Feb. 11, we've been challenged to make a monochromatic card. Any color, any theme, just so it's all the same color. Sounds like fun to me!

In other news, smARTworks is now offering smARTbucks, a new incentive program for frequent and loyal shoppers! smARTbucks can be earned by ordering smART rubber (one smARTbuck per $10 spent) customer referrals, and cards submitted by mail to the customer gallery, and can be redeemed for exclusive merchandise, or discounts on future purchases. As an "ultimate reward", Susan has designed "the Cookie Plate", an exclusive full sheet of flower silhouette images and sayings. The Cookie Plate can be purchased with $20 smARTbucks. Here are a couple projects made with Cookie Plate stamps, just to tease you...you know what an enabler I am by now, right?!!

Here's a simple one-layer card - I stamped the floral image after inking it with sage and lavender chalk inks. Shading and highlighting is added with Prismacolor pencil and a white gel pen. I added a light shadow with a Prismacolor marker.

I still need to find a good black frame for this piece...the hymn verse has always spoken to me as a paper crafter - it's the 3rd verse of "The Love of God". I treated myself to some gorgemous commercial fonts recently, and had to try one out. The mat was colored 'direct to mat' with chalk inks, then stamped with various floral images. The butterflies are part of the Cookie Plate too, and I threw in the flourish image from the Stella set.

Below is a detail piece from the left side of the mat, just for a closer look. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Greetings, Dina! I like the simplicity of the first card. It has a look of clean and pure. I think the 2nd is also lovely. The hymn is new to me. Thanks for sharing it.

  3. Oh, I love that hymn too! Thanks for reminding me of those wonderful words! Your flower is shaded & highlighted in the right places - it looks so real! Be blessed today!!!
