It's time to party!! Day 1:Get smART y'all................
Woo hoo, happy birthday to me! Hope you're ready to help me celebrate. :) For the next 5 days (why 5? I don't know!) I'll be issuing you a challenge or 2. Play the challenge using any stamps you want, post a link, and be entered for a chance to win fabulous prizes from some of my favorite companies! Huge THANKS to each company for having such awesome stamps, and for helping me have a fun blog birthday!
Each challenge will be due one week after it is posted. For the main challenge, a 'best of show' winner will be chosen each day - so make 'em purty...! If there is a secondary prize, we'll select a random winner.
Today’s prize package comes from smARTworks! When you’re limited in what you have to stamp with, you have to be smART, right? To challenge you today, a limited supply challenge.
If you’re like me (I hope someone is!) not everything got put away from your last project. You still have paper scraps, an embellishment or two, a scrap of ribbon, a stamp or 3, etc. out on your desk.
Challenge: create a card from the supplies you have left out on your desk right now. If your desk is immaculate…go make a card, make a mess, and create your entry from scraps and bits of what you have left after your first card is done. If you need to grab a stamp or two out - that's ok.
Come back to this post and leave a link to your card creation in the comment section below. Your card and link must be posted by January 8th at midnight EST.
Prize: Our favorite entry will win 4 unmounted stamp sets (pictured) -- Bold Floral Quartet - Floating, Daisy Hope, Iris Bloom, and Salutations plus 1 handcrafted, The Clear Thing block sized to accommodate these sets.
Bonus prize!!! For a chance to win 2 spring-themed stamp sets, check out any of the smART galleries -- Cookie galleries, customer gallery, contest archive gallery, etc. (links found at http://www.smartrubber.com/), and choose a favorite sample. Then leave a comment telling that card's title, its designer, and the smART image(s) used.
Here's my card to get you started - I'm a little embarrassed to say that I had LOTS to choose from still sitting on my desk...but these paper scraps were still hanging around from some samples I sent off for CHA. This little bear is from a cutie little set called Warming Up - he is so fun to paper piece! The saying comes from one of my Trio sets, Daisy Trio #2.
Alrighty - go get creative!
My dear sister and friend Dina!!! Happy New Year!!! Good wishes from Russia!Nika
ReplyDeleteThe challenges sound like fun! Happy Birthday, Dina! Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Dina!!! I love your card, I don't have anything on my desk right now, but I will try to make a mess and play your challenge, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day and Happy New Year!!
God bless

Happy Birthday Dina!!!
ReplyDeleteSo much inspiration over in the cookie jar. I picked this card...http://smartworks.typepad.com/photos/smartworks_by_donelda/pussy-willows.html
ReplyDeleteIt's entitled Pussy Willows by Donelda Wygiera. She uses Spring #1 and DK-10 Looking Collage. Breathtaking!
I can't participate in the challenges as I am currently caring for my Mom (who had major surgery and has had several complication) full time...But I have MANY favorites in the smARTcookies gallery! I spied this one browsing yesterday:

SoftFlight by Peggy Lamb using the Hummer set.
Thanks for the chance Dina! ;0)
Oh Dina, this sounds like so much fun. I am hoping to have a stamping day today..and I know that there are scraps sitting down there on my desk from my scrapping New Year party with some friends. Interesting colors...I'll have to see what I can come up with :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Dina! Here's the link to my card. I photographed the scraps before I made the card. It's on my splitcoast gallery.

I didn't think about photographing my scraps before I made my card...that would have been a good idea!!
Thanks for the fun Dina!!
Dina, here's my card made from some scraps. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1180762?cat=500&ppuser=34575
ReplyDeleteThe DP was left over from covering a photo box for my new grandnephew and I had stamped the lions when making a baby card a few weeks ago.
For the bonus contest, I checked out the Smart Card Stamping Contest gallery. I picked "Happy Trio" by Elizabeth Trachtenberg where she used the FL-07 Daisy Trio stamp. It looks like this won 2nd place in March 2007. Thanks...
Hi Dina,
ReplyDeleteFinally I can play the challenges, I have finished all of them, here is my first challenge card:

Hi Dina,
ReplyDeleteHere is my card using scraps. Unfortunately I just recently cleaned up so I didn't have much to work with but I found this brayered bird background I never used and then used my smARTworks feather set for the feather and sentiment. You can't tell in the pic but I used the feather to stamp all over the card base.

I looked in the gallery and I like your card called Imagine. It used Do You See What I See?, Gathering Flowers and a bonus "imagine" stamp.
ReplyDeleteHi ya. Here is what I came up with.
ReplyDeletehttp://myotherblog2.blogspot.com/
I peeked at a few of the galleries at SmART Works. I choose this card: http://smartworks.typepad.com/photos/customer_art/sk3.html
It is in the customer gallery, didn't see a card name. It is made by Sarah Kornhaus; she used WD 121-heart song. A fun card!
This was my next project http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=1428126 The scanner washed it out a little bit.
ReplyDeleteI chose your Scarecrow card that says Harvest Greetings on it. You also did paper piecing.
OOPS! I JUST read the 2nd challenge....
ReplyDeleteMy long-time favorite in the smARTworks customer gallery is ths: http://smartworks.typepad.com/photos/customer_art/lt7.html
Elizabeth Trachtenberg is the artist.
This was really fun, so glad you came up with this idea! I recently was blessed with a wonderful gift of smARTworks stamps, so I don't wish to be greedy, so don't consider me a contestant for the stamps, just a happy participant!
ReplyDeleteWhew ... we're dealing with a virus, and I thought I was not going to be able to comment here, wow! Just made it!
Oh, forgot about favorite card. I really love Happy Trio by Elizabeth Trachtenberg (Daisy Trio). The gorgeous daisies on the black background is so gorgeous! I need to learn how to do that!
