Sounds of Christmas

Each month Art Impressions hosts a card contest with a given theme. I've always enjoyed entering, and even moreso now that the winners are chosen by the company and not by public vote (muttering under my breath about popularity contests....). Anyway, here are my entries for this month's theme, the Sounds of Christmas. Recently I've enjoyed altering printed hymns, and this was my first project doing that. (I do have several more to share!!) I used a floral corner stamp and a sunflower stamp, which was willing to be a poinsettia for the occasion. :) I stamped the corner stamp directly onto the hymn page, colored the floral images with markers and shaded with Prismacolor pencils, then stippled around the image. The sunflowers have super glittery centers, and are popped on mounting foam.

My second card is a z-fold. I used the door set (you can get all kinds of seasonal accesories for it - sooooooo fun), and 2 carolers, then watercolored the scene. (I stamped the carolers first, masked them with post-it notes, then stamped the door and accesories.) I stamped the floral corner again on all corners of the card base, then on the inside panel. I meant to attach a ribbon so it would tie shut.....but forgot to add it before adhering the caroler scene....oh well.

We have some serious issues going on at our campus today involving some of our students... for their sake and privacy I'll leave it at that, but please pray for wisdom for the staff as we determine what the consequences should be for their actions.

Enjoy your day!
