I'll take that tea to go, please!

It's tea party time, and we are on the road! But I said I'd try to play along anyway. Donna was our smARTworks tea party hostess this week, and our challenge was to make a valentine card. We're traveling cross-country, and though I do have stamping stuff with me, it's not very easy to get to. It's divided in several small boxes, bags, and a suitcase. So...I had my own "limited supplies" challenge as well. I grabbed out 3 of my smARTworks stamp albums (themes: text, florals, and backgrounds), and my tote that has my chalk inks and coloring supplies. That's all I had to work with! I had the day in the car to come up with an idea, and I had decided to do a reverse-masked heart. Paper. Hmmm...no paper. Thankfully (yeah!) I had a care package from Shannan, and it had some pearlized cardstock in it and some ribbon. Cool. I tore a page out of the hotel phonebook to make the mask (sorry, y'all...).

I stippled chalk inks in the open heart, then filled in images. I didn't have an appropriate text stamp (they're in a box I couldn't get to...but I think I have a typewriter font stamp that says "love"...someday, I'll add that there in the middle............or maybe I'll just leave it! Spica black glitter pen around the edge of the heart. I watercolored some chalk ink around the edge (for an aged look, and to cover up a couple smudges - shhh!!).

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team created as they post throughout the day:

  2. Wow, you definitely get bonus points for creativity. Love what you've created. (And now a moment of silence for the phone book page...)

  3. Wow...fabulous! It certainly doesn't look like you were limited in any way. And, as long as you didn't use the "pizza places that deliver" page from the phone book, I don't think anyone will ever know.
