Tea Party #4

Susan Liles of Susiestampalot provided our Tea Party sketch this week. Thanks Susan!

My card is simple, but I had fun with it and had to share this cutie cupcake idea too...I'm not sure if I'm the only one to come up with it, but I had the idea all by myself. :)

Here's my card. The saying is from a smARTworks set called "Special Happy" - it has 2 birthday sayings that are fun to play with...this particular one has taken all kinds of forms thanks to my Stamp-a-ma-jig...you can see more samples using the set by clicking here.

The cupcake is the fun part of the card. It's done with 2 punches - the Stampin' Up! Round Tab Punch and a Marvy Giga Scalloped Circle Punch.

Punch 2 tabs out - one in patterned paper for your cupcake wrapper, and one in a solid color for your 'frosting'. Cut the patterned one in half - each punch makes 2 cupcakes. For the frosting piece, center the rounded top in your scalloped punch as shown in the picture to the right..

Almost forgot to mention...the striped paper is painted over with white acrylic paint. For some reason, that particular paper...pattern's just too bold for me, but with a layer of white over top - just right. Something to try, anyway.

  1. After stamps, my addiction is punches, so this is great! I also like the way you used the forepanel for text. Nice job!

  2. Wowzers! What a cool idea for the cupcake! Cooler than that even?...altering your paper with white paint. I'm going to be looking at my stash in a whole new way.

  3. Super cute! I love the softness and that idea with the punches is great! Too bad I don't have the tab punch! Maybe I'll have to come up with an alternative!

  5. What a great ide to create the cupcake - and I'm thinking you could even use a real wrapper as the bottom. How cute would that be for a first birthday card? You definitely have gotten my wheels turning...
