lucky mouse........

...seriously. I went with DH to help at the house - I sat on the floor and painted the inside of my kitchen cabinets...I'm filthy and sweaty and I wore a hat all day...and just before we were getting ready to come home, the power went out, which makes the water go off...and even though the power's back on, the water won't be on until the morning. We do have some water in a bucket in our bathroom......but it's cold. Sigh...

Our plan is still to move on Saturday, even though having seen the house it's really probably not ready for us yet. Lots of things that need to be done...or redone...need to get over my Western ideal that a new house should have everything done right in it and not already need stuff fixed...! It's just a house...it's just a house...it's just a house...

But this is not my venting blog! (no...no vent tonight - not worth it) The card. House Mouse (original Stampa Rosa) "Feeling Rosy" - watercolored with Derwent pencils/waterbrush. Sentiment is a partial stamp from TAC - I think the full saying is "warm wishes on your birthday", and I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the words. The patterned paper is a free download from the Sun Porch collection at Shabby Princess.

My favorite part of this card is the steam coming up from the cup. I discovered that I could pick up the ink from a Sakura Stardust glitter pen (the clear one) with a waterbrush and watercolor with it. I just scribbled it on an acrylic block, picked it up with my waterbrush and painted it on. Can you see it? Sooooooooooo sparkly and very cool - and just enough sparkly - not overwhelming or pen-stroke-looking. (BTW, I did try it with some of the other Stardust pens and it didn't work as well - the glitter wasn't as concentrated and the colors in the ink that I tried separated weird because of the water.)

Alrighty - good night to me and good morning to y'all!

  1. Dina this is just so cute. I love the texture of WC paper, there's just nothing like it. I'll have to try that trick with the stardust pen!

  8. adorable, I just love house of mouse. I have some of the original and for some reason they seem smaller than the newer ones.
