blue....Christmas......?

I'll admit this card is a little unseasonal, but I just couldn't resist playing with my Sweater Bears. Just too cute!

This card seemed like it was a long time in the making...not sure how many times I ended up replacing the layers of snow (torn cardstock) because something didn't work right. I started off with glitter at the edge of each layer, but I didn't like that because the glitter I used ended up having a pinkish tint. Rip!

After that, I tried punching a hole in the snow to tie a ribbon accent from the right, but it made the card "right- heavy". No go. Rip!

I tried stamping a word in the snow, and it stamped unevenly. Rip!

I finally decided to emboss the card base to balance it out (embossing is done "the old fashioned way" with a stylus and Fiskars texture plate). I guess it works...not sure what else it needs - or if I'm settled on it being "done".

Stamps are from smARTworks. The snowflake is actually from another set called "Polarized" - but when I saw this bear and saw the Polarized set on the facing page, I just pictured this scene. The background paper is some of my "uncool" background paper from Provocraft. There's glitter on the snowflake but it doesn't show in the picture.

Guess I'm feeling a little better, just really wiped out. Napoleon Dynamite was just my speed today...sigh......

  1. Poor thing - what a time you had making this card! But all in all I think it's really cute! Hope your day will be much better & that you'll regain that strength quickly.

  2. Sorry to hear you were under the weather, Dina. The only good thing about a bug like that (well, besides the weight loss) is that it's usually over pretty quickly. Hope you're fully recovered by now!

  3. I'm usually just a lurker but this card is so great that I just have to comment! I love everything about it-especially the torn snow and background embossing. Glad you're feeling better and hope you're back to 100% soon.

  4. this turned out super cute! All your efforts were worthwhile. You could maybe stamp one more balloon snowflake and use a dimensional to pop it off the page.
