faux watercolor

Finally got something pulled together to share with you!

I discovered, a bit by accident, but I don't remember what the accident was...that the Versamagic chalk inks run when they're wet. They are great for direct-to-rubber inking in their "Dewdrop" form, so those ideas collided into a 'faux watercolor' technique. Serendipity!!

Ink the stamp as you want it (the smARTworks solid flowers are so great for this - this is from the daisy set which has this flower in 3 different sizes (this is the largest) plus a wonderful long thin stem), mist with water, and stamp. Usually you can also re-mist and re-stamp another time - after that the colors start to get a bit muddy. I think the vellum card was my first impression, and the ladybug my second. I retouched the center of the second flower a little with a brush afterwards - it was a bit more faded. Sometimes you want that effect too, so it's all good. ;)

Friends card Credits: all stamps by smARTworks. scalloped border - Coluzzle envelope template, holes handpunched. Flower trim - local, sewed on by machine; background paper - downloaded page kit from Digital Scrapbook Place (Kira Collection). Versamagic chalk inks on the flower and Stazon Jet Black on the quote.

Little Hello card credits: bookplate - Joanns. There's a spot of crystal lacquer on the ladybug. Next time I may leave the lady bug off - pulls the eye a little much. Thoughts? At least it draws your eye away from that scary white space...! LOL
