warning: shameless coffee pun!

I wasn't going to submit anything for the next Art Impressions contest, but I let my mind wander one day, and I got this idea...got a little stressed one evening and this is what came out as a combination of the idea and the stress! Can you tell I was stressed when I made it?! Something about the starkness of the black, the crowdedness of the layout, and the scribbles on the background panel...

Anyway - obviously the stamps are by Art Impressions - the bird and grinder are separate stamps...the theme this month was "All about Java" and that is the only coffee related stamp of theirs that I have. The rest of the card is doodled. The tile countertop was fun to do - I laid my ruler at the little crook in the bird's leg and drew some lines raying out from there, then blended them a bit with OMS. The wallpaper is DTP'd with Bisque chalk ink, and then I stippled a little more using a punched out flower as a stencil. The wording is my handwriting...I guess I could have used their ABC stamps on the 'java' but I think it would have been a little bit too big. On the back panel I seriously just scribbled, then drew some dots at intersecting lines. The edge is sponged with black ink.

Oh - the card that won last month was the hut on the beach. I was a little surprised at the 2nd & 3rd place wins...but then again I wasn't, as that contest tends to be a bit of a popularity contest. Not sure why I keep entering, except that I like the challenge of only using stamps from one company. And since I just won last month...if I win something next month...hmmm...blog candy?!!?!

  1. wow, I love the tile, actually everything about the card is wonderful!!! Genius! You should enter, but only one, so that you don't split up the votes of your friends.

  3. Even in your stress, your talent "oozes"!! I just wanna know if the "java" is a contraction for "d'ya have a" or is it the spanish "j" for "have a"? heehee. :-) Love ya!
