Happy Hoppers!

I love my House Mouse House Mice...but guess what?! They have come out with new cutie furry bunny friends called Happy Hoppers! *twitch...twitch...must...have...*

Here's the House Mouse that came out to play for this week's SCS Sketch Challenge (#111). I've been wanting for a long time to use my Pastel Pencils - my husband bought them for me all by himself a few years ago, and they just haven't gotten much use...this was the first time I've used them since we moved overseas because you have to spray your work with a fixative, and the only can I could find in town was over $15. I finally broke down and bought it then forgot about it, and it doesn't even really spray all that well, but ... Anyway, here's my card. I stamped in Stazon Jet Black, then colored in with the pencils - the technique is similar to the Prismacolor Pencils/odorless mineral spirits in that you color and blend with blending stumps...except these pencils don't require a blending medium. They're basically chalk in a pencil form. The effect is very soft and I love it on the House Mouse stamps, though it's been a long time since I've used them and I need a little more practice. I masked the mouse and added in some tufts of grass (Biblical Impressions) and a ladybug (StraightForward Stamps). I used the "Scrap Strip" technique to fill in the background......I have my paper scraps in page protectors by color, and I kept seeing all these great reds together. Love the effect, sort of quilty. Handwriting is mine on the tag.

  1. Another great card! I find that hairspray seals these chalk pencils pretty well. This card reminds me of the little mouse and the big bear storybook!
