More watercolors

I thought I'd try my hand at paper tole, since I read somewhere it was popular again...This is an image from My Heart Stamps For You which I stamped with Stazon ink and watercolored 3 times. For the watercoloring I used my Derwent pencils, which I recommend.

After coloring, I trimmed 1 entire image around its border. I cut out the flowers from the second image. I trimmed part way in towards the centers of the flowers and bent and curled them with my finger, then glued them onto the main panel at a slightly different angle than the image. After the glue dried I reshaped them a little bit. For the hummingbirds, I cut out only the bodies and the wing in the foreground. They are attached to the card with 3m Mounting Tape.

The background behind the main panel is a scrap of glossy paper done with the polished stone technique (or a modified one, not sure) - I soaked a cotton ball in alcohol, and dripped a few drops of reinker on it, then applied it repeatedly to glossy cardstock...it's been a while since I made that piece and I don't remember what colors I used - probably Adirondack Pesto and Brilliance Galaxy Gold. I stamped the background panel with the Oriental Branch stamp using Versacolor Bamboo ink. Posted by Picasa

  3. This is gorgeous! My DH and I put up a hummingbird feeder for the first time this year and we've really enjoyed watching them. My friends say that's a sure sign of getting old! I guess that just means I can finally appreciate the simple beauty around me! Beautiful card!

  7. Dini,
This is my first visit to your blog. Your work is gorgeous. You said you had to win the contest because there were only 45 enteries, well I think you would have won if there was 100.
