Butterflies!

This month's release from Our Daily Bread designs is all about faith and butterflies - I love the symbolism of butterflies as a picture of the new creation we are in Christ - "the old has gone - the new has come!" These are the new designs that I created for the release this month: There is also a custom die for the butterfly on the corner stamp, and a coordinating butterfly texture plate.

I've been working a lot with backgrounds this week so I decided to use the Butterfly Branch to create my own custom designer paper. I started with glossy cardstock and stamped around the edge with Versamark ink, turning the stamp as I went around. Next, I sprayed the cardstock with reinkers mixed with water (brown and turquoise) and allowed the piece to dry. Next I sponged brown ink, and then stamped the butterflies again in the same brown ink. I added a few touches of turquoise here and there with an inkpad. I sponged the edges with dark brown ink, then ran a piece of sandpaper horizontally and vertically to distress the whole piece and cut down a bit of the gloss. Here is the final result, before I covered it up!For the focal panel, I stamped the branch again on watercolor paper and watercolored lightly with chalk inks. My bow was heated lightly with a heat gun for a more vintage look. The ODBD team is showcasing this month's new releases in a blog hop - you can visit their blogs for more inspiration! The blog hop starts at the ODBD Blog. I'm entering this card in their "Stamping in Time"challenge, themed "Ring in the New" - new stamps, new life! Lovin' it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
