The giraffe has a name!

A shout-out of thanks to Susan for throwing the giraffe-naming contest!

Let me preface this by saying this is not the way I expected my choice to turn! I had written out the list by hand to 'study' the options, but I left off the extra info, nicknames, etc. I actually was toying with 2 other names - I liked the Heidi/High-Dee idea, as it could be a "Pat" sort of name, and High-Dee sounded like a rapper name and gave the giraffe a little attitude...then Giraffael was just so creative...but also sort of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (in a good way, of course!). All the names were very clever - thanks to all of you for visiting and participating!

The turn in my thoughts actually came when I posted the list here, and saw the nicknames that had been given for Beauregard, one of them being Bogie. Sigh...that was the one. Growing up my Dad instilled in me a love for classic movies, and Humphrey Bogart is one of my favorite actors in those oldies-but-goodies (Sabrina, African Queen, and Casablanca, to name a few). So.....congratulations to Cheri Mosgrove, who submitted the name Beauregard. Have fun with your Bogie! I hear he's already on his way. Here's lookin' at you, kid!

I created this card on the impulse of Bogie's muse, and cracked up the whole time making it - and I think I actually created a collage piece that I like! See how the giraffe just has that melancholy Bogie look? They are totally having a moment here. All stamps, naturally, by smARTworks. The postage stamp is a picture off the internet which I made sepia-tone before printing. The words I couldn't find on stamps are computer generated (that font is a free download called Batik). The colored background paper was done using the Smackin' Acetate technique, with Adirondack Ginger and Butterscotch and Brilliance Galaxy Gold reinkers, and a little gold glitter glue. The card is actually pretty sparkly in real life. :) There are a lot of other details here that I'd just rather you enjoy rather than me trying to describe them all - if you have questions let me know!

Y'all are sure making the hit counter go up - I'll be waiting for that 20,000th hit email - I will be so embarrassed if I accidentally hit it when I'm checking in!

  1. I love the card and I love the name, althought this means that you can only stamp him in black now right??
